Uche Fuels Comfortable Crystal Palace Victory at Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their first-ever European campaign, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Missing key figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable result that all but secures them a spot in the Conference League playoffs.

Another victory in their upcoming match against Finnish KuPS should be enough to secure straight entry to the knockout stages, especially after a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Opportunity

This match provided a chance for some of Palace's fringe talent to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second consecutive succession.

A Shelbourne side that had finished their domestic season proved outmatched even for a largely rotated Palace lineup. The Londoners were already depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee injuries.

Control Asserted from the Start

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A slick move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple finish.

Youngster Adam Wharton went close minutes later, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the official waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to find his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's effort had struck the post.

The home side were clinging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for a couple of robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Wraps Up the Contest

The match was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring his very first touch, only to see his effort blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then missed a glaring chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
